Built on community roots, rural values and a passion for self-sufficient living.
Our Story
The foundation of AOG Solutions LLC was laid long before the company existed, four years serving as an Appalachian Immersion Intern, living residentially in Athens County, Ohio through Good Works Ministry.
Good Works Ministry's many initiatives opened doors into rural communities that most people never see from the outside. Living and working alongside people who depend on ingenuity, faith and practical skills, not convenience. That experience changed the way we think about products and people. Off-grid living isn't a trend in these communities. It's a way of life passed down through generations.
Our founder came to the ministry with real hands on him. Before Good Works he worked as a carpenter, part of a crew that built homes from the ground up. Foundation, framing, windows, doors, dry boxed and move on to the next one. That background never left him.
At the ministry that same resourcefulness showed up in everything he touched. One project that stands out: fabricating a maple syrup arch from used bed frames and plate metal, then using it to make maple syrup completely from scratch. He tapped the trees, collected the sap, built the arch, ran the evaporator and bottled the finished syrup. The only things he did not make himself were the evaporator pan, the filters and the jars. He even hosted a community workshop teaching others the entire process start to finish.
That is the kind of person Our founder is. All around handy, resourceful and the go-to for creative solutions. It earned him the nickname "the Chainsaw Whisperer" and it is the same mindset baked into every corner of AOG Off Grid. Find a way, build what you need, make it work.
Near the end of those four years, a motorcycle accident changed everything. A broken fibula that ended the kind of physical work our founder had always known. That season of recovery became a turning point. AOG Solutions LLC was founded not in spite of that moment but because of it, a deliberate decision to build something lasting, something that matched both his skills and his calling.
The right partnership followed. The right opportunity came in Wayne County, Ohio, deep in the heart of one of the largest Amish communities in the world. Those daily connections to craftsmen, manufacturers and rural families shaped everything about how we source and what we carry.
The technology side of AOG Off Grid is built in-house. Our founder studied Applied Computers at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and holds a Networking Systems degree from Hocking College, the same institution rooted in the Appalachian Ohio region where this journey began. Every tool, calculator and feature on this site was designed and built from scratch with that background.
AOG Off Grid exists to bring quality products and real technical knowledge to the entire off-grid community across America, homesteaders, preppers, rural property owners, cabin dwellers and anyone choosing independence over dependence on the grid.
The values behind every product we carry
Quality over convenience, every time
We work directly with Ohio-based manufacturers and craftsmen. No random internet storefronts, no mystery brands. Every supplier we work with is an established business with a real reputation, and real people who stand behind what they sell.
Our supplier relationships are built on years of trust within the rural and Plain community network of Ohio and Indiana. We know who makes things right and who doesn't.
We don't carry anything we wouldn't stake our reputation on. If it's on AOG Off Grid, it's because we believe it will work the way it's supposed to, for years, not months.
Bugs, confusing bits, or ideas — all welcome. Thank you!
